Peggy Blankenship

Jan. 27, 1931 - Oct. 31, 2015 Peggy Phyllis Deal Blankenship, 84, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at her residence. Born on January 27, 1931 in Statesville, she was the daughter of the late Minnie Bell and L. A. "Buster" Deal. She was married for 60 years to the love of her life, Richard W. Blankenship, Sr. She enjoyed growing all types of flowers and could make anything grow. She was known for her delicious pound cakes and grasshopper pies and her biggest joy in life was having her entire family together for laughter and food. She had a fun sense of humor and always enjoyed laughter. She retired from JC Penney Distribution Center after 37 years of service. She was a loving and faithful wife, loving grandmother, and a beautiful woman inside and out. She will be missed by all who have known and loved her. Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Richard; son, Richard "Rick" W. Blankenship, Jr. and wife, Tammy; daughter, Vicky Blankenship Zanon; sister, Judy Deal Sherrill; grandchildren, Payton Blankenship and Brennen, Jaymie, Richard and Savannah Zanon; and two step-granddaughters, Amber Zanon Pflug and Kara Zanon. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Troutman Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Iredell Memorial Gardens.
