Paul Henry Billings

March 11, 1934 — August 8, 2025

North Augusta, SC

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Paul Henry Billings, 91, went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2025, in Augusta, GA. Born in Statesville, North Carolina, Paul was the beloved son of the late James Alonzo Billings and Hallie Mae Stokes Billings.

Paul was a devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, known for his gentle spirit, gracious heart, and unwavering faith. He was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Statesville, NC, Edwards Road Baptist Church and Taylors First Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. Paul faithfully served Edwards Road and Taylors First Baptist as a Men’s Sunday School teacher for over 25 years. He was a committed member of The Gideons International for decades and gave generously of his time through the Kairos Prison Ministry, sharing hope and the message of Christ with those in need.

A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Paul dedicated his professional life to human resources and leadership development. He served as Human Resources Director at Uniglass in Statesville, and as Training Director at United Merchants, Lucas CAV, Platt Saco Lowell, and Cryovac in Greenville, South Carolina. He later volunteered as HR Director at Miracle Hill Ministries, where his calling to serve others was deeply lived out.

He loved reading and writing—especially literature, poetry and music—and had a prayerful, humble presence that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was known for his kind words, warm encouragement, and giving nature.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Joan Bennett Billings; his children, Cinda Billings Roland (Michael) and Paul Mark Billings (Jill); his grandchildren, Jason Roland (Sharon), Shelley Roland Alvey (Steven), Corina Billings Dickson (Curtis), Marta Billings Smith (Grant), and Bennett Billings; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler Roland, Avery Roland, Layne Alvey, Ella Alvey, Emily Dickson, Rosie Dickson, Joshua Dickson, David Dickson, Gideon Sutton, and Ezra Smith. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Billings (Margaret).

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Alonzo Billings and Hallie Mae Stokes Billings.
