Patty Jane Shore Brotherton

Mrs. Patty Jane Shore Brotherton, 81, of Statesville, passed away November 29, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following a brief illness. Patty was born in Yadkin County, NC on March 6, 1931 and she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Fannie Money Shore. She attended West Yadkin School. She was married to Hubert Pinnix, Clay Shew, and Junior Brotherton, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Campbell; grandson, Neal Thomas; brothers, Edward and Alex Shore; and sister, Lois Bates. She was employed by Hanes Hosiery for many years, Uniglass for a number of years and later assisted her late husband in his own business. More recently, she was a retired homemaker and caregiver for her grandson, Neal, for 17 years. Patty was a caring and loving person to everyone. She always took in those who had nowhere else to go. Patty is survived by daughters, Wytonna Bost (Sonny) of Statesville, Donna Ayers (Keith) of Troutman, and son, Johnny Shew (Karon) of Jonesville. She was the loving grandmother of Brian Thomas (Heather), Ricky Thomas (Mary), Tamara Miller (Troy), Robert Bost (Jennifer), Crystal Gibson (Brian) and James Brotherton. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Zach and Chandler Thomas, Justin Meadows, Halee Thomas, Shyanne and Destiny Miller, and Joshua and Robbie Bost; sisters, Gladys Vanhoy of Elkin, Leola Barr of King, Sarah Johnson, Mary Alexander and Carolyn Collins of Harmony; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Fern Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 with the Rev. Steve Ayers and the Rev. Jesse Stroud officiating. Interment will be at Iredell Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center - Palliative Care Program, P.O.
