Nancy Carolyn (Waugh) Sipes

Nancy Carolyn Waugh Sipes, 89, passed away peacefully at the Gordon Hospice House Friday, November 5, 2021.

Born in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late James. H. Waugh and Eunice C. Waugh. Also preceding her in death was her son, Ronnie E. Sipes, brother-in-law, Tom Stevenson and a special niece, Renea Overcash. She was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School. On July 29, 1950 she married Jimmy R. Sipes together sharing 71 wonderful years in marriage together.

Nancy worked many years as a supervisor in various sewing factories later on opening up her own alteration shop with her sister Sue making wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses. She later retired from Food Lion where she loved talking, laughing and serving her customers.

In addition to her husband Jim, those left to cherish her memory are her son, Wesley and wife Carol, one granddaughter, Heather Sipes Baldwin (Steven); two grandsons, Chris Sipes (Amber) and Justin Sipes (Elizabeth) along with 7 great grandchildren, Luke and Hunter Baldwin, Chloe, Kerrigan, Harper, Parker and Lincoln Sipes and three wonderful sisters, Sue Stevenson, Lib Black (Jerry) and Judy Overcash.

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 8, 2021 at Iredell Memorial Gardens at 2:00pm with her pastor Rev. Larry Holleman of Diamond Hill Baptist Church officiating. Burial and visitation will follow the service.
