Nancy Isabella Salway-Kaplan

Nancy Salway-Kaplan, 73, of New Bern, NC, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Davis Regional Hospital in Statesville, NC.

Nancy was born September 24, 1945, in Cambridge, MA, and was the daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret (McLellan) Salway. She was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School and was married to the late Joel G. Kaplan, who passed away March 24, 2019. She previously worked for J.L. Hammett in MA. She moved to Florida where she met her husband Joel and married him in December 1989, and became a homemaker. She and Joel relocated to New Bern, NC, in 2006, and became immersed in the local community. Nancy loved and adored her husband and their many cats, doting on and spoiling both.

Nancy is survived by three siblings, Judith Mary Salway DiPietro of N. Miami Beach, FL; Bernard “Bernie” Salway (Carol) of Woburn, MA; James Salway of Port Orchard, WA; stepdaughters Meg Kaplan-Noach of Plantation, FL, and Lee Kaplan of Chicago, IL, & Pembroke Pines, FL; sister-in-law Anita Verbeke of Long Island, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Teresa and Duncan Salway and Janet Sullivan.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
