June 28, 1923 - Feb. 4, 2016 Mrs. Nancy Harwell Rogers, 92, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016. She was born in Statesville on June 28, 1923 to the late Avery Buford & Josie Cook Harwell. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who was always full of fun, laughter and so much love. She loved children, especially babies, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was married to the late J. B. Rogers for 43 years and attended Western Avenue Baptist Church her entire adult life where she served in the nursery for over 50 years. She is survived by her son, James B. Rogers, III, of Statesville; daughter, Julia (Dan) Tedder of Troutman; sister, Ann Mayberry of Statesville; brother, Avery (Betty) Harwell of Statesville; grandchildren, Benjamin (Lauren) Tedder and Nancy (Nolan) Combs, all of Cornelius; and great-grandchildren, Sloane and Caroline Tedder, both of Cornelius. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine Nash, Julia Moore and Josephine Little; and brothers, Billy, James, Johnny, Neil, and Donnie Harwell, and Neil Moore. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville with the Rev. Jeff Spry officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving caretaker and friend, Billie Jean Holbrook. They also send a loving thank you to both Lamenda Cashion, RN and Tracy Bell, CNA and to Hospice of Iredell County for all their care.
