Nancy (Hildebrand) Reid

Mrs. Nancy Hildebrand Reid, 95, of Statesville, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Mrs. Reid was born December 7, 1927, in Statesville and was the daughter of the late Jesse Clapp Hildebrand and Pheribee Lea Huffman Hildebrand.  She graduated from Troutman High School, class of 1944, where she was class valedictorian.  She later attended Mitchell College and earned a secretary degree.  Mrs. Reid served with Seaboard Airlines during World War II in Portsmouth, VA and on October 23, 1948, was married to Clarence G. Reid, who passed away in 2000.  She was a secretary for the Statesville City Schools, and before retiring was a real estate broker with Hunter Realty.  She was a former member of First Baptist Church and a member of the First ARP Church.  She was an enthusiastic golfer and loved competing. She also loved the beach, beach music, and line dancing, but most of all, she loved her church and family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances H. Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Carole R. Pickett (Jim) of Statesville, her son, Robert (Bob) Lee Reid (Lanny) of Charlotte. Her grandchildren are Daniel Pickett (Jennie), Joseph Pickett (Alison), Bob Pickett, Robert Reid (Sydney) and Lanny Gillespie (Aaron).  Eight great grandchildren also survive.

A private family graveside service will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Oakwood Cemetery, with Rev. Jeremy Cannada officiating.  Online condolences may be made to the Reid family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com
