Nancy Ann Teaster Martin

Nancy Ann Teaster Martin, 77, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Nancy was born on May 28, 1949, at Long's Hospital and was the daughter of the late Gothard Easley Teaster and Nell Benfield Teaster. She was a 1967 graduate of South Iredell High School, where she graduated with the first graduating class.

Throughout her life, Nancy held many titles, but her favorite was "Nana." She proudly chose that name when her first grandchild was born in 1998, and in 2002 she embraced her role as a full-time Nana. Nothing brought her greater joy than caring for her family. Known for her warm and welcoming spirit, Nancy never met a stranger. She also enjoyed thrift shopping and took great pride in finding a good bargain.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Teaster and David Teaster; sister, Mary Nell Pruitt; father-in-law, Ralph Alexander Martin; mother-in-law, Hilda Wright Martin; brothers-in-law, Richard Martin and Lindsey Sharpe; and sisters-in-law, Naomi Teaster and Barbara "Bobby" Sharpe.

Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory are her husband of 52 years, Billy Ralph Martin; her daughter, Tania Martin Trent (Todd); her son, Billy Ralph Martin, Jr. (Alouna); grandchildren, Logan Richardson (Yadirza), Gavin Richardson and Cyrus Martin; great grandchildren, Kaiden Violeta Richardson and Paulo Matias Fernandez; brother, Harold Teaster; sisters, Hattie Fulton (Nathan) and Marty Poole (Tony); sisters-in-law, Pat Martin and Barbara Teaster; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 7th in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darren Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
