Nancy Jean Comings

October 3, 1947 - February 7, 2017 Nancy Jean Comings, 69, of Troutman, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Nancy was born on October 3, 1947 in Deposit, New York to the late Alvin Sherman and Jane Carson Sherman. Nancy worked in the Iredell Statesville School System as a bus driver and teacher’s assistant. She was a dedicated volunteer of the Good News Club at Troutman Elementary and loved children’s evangelism. She was an active member of Mountain Road Baptist Church, where she shared her beautiful voice singing in the choir. She was very creative and enjoyed card making and scrapbooking. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Patrick Philip Comings; son, Paul Comings of Statesville; daughters, Maureen Cutting (Jamie) of New York and Charlene Comings of Troutman; sister, Terri Sherman of Concord; brother, David Sherman (Andrea) of Florida, and seven grandchildren, all of whom will dearly cherish her memory. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Mountain Road Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Fox and Rev. Henry Cook officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. and shortly following the service in the fellowship hall. A private committal will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Comings’s memory may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, PO Box 5445, Statesville, NC 28687 or to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
