Nancy Benfield

Nancy Smith Benfield, 90, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Nancy was born in Iredell County on January 31, 1935, to the late Marvin Luther “Luke” Smith and Bertha Nance Smith. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Brenda Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 46 years, Herbert “Boyd” Benfield; her son, Mike Dagenhart (Patsy); her daughter, Bonnie Killmeyer (Scott); granddaughters, Holly McDaniel (Clinton), Tracy Barnes (Stephen) and Brittany Head (Ken); eight great grandchildren; brother, Lynn Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 21 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Jeff Carson and Rev. Denise Kilgo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jurney’s of Statesville, 1942 Van Haven Drive, Statesville, NC 28625.
