Nancy (Capps) Benfield

Nancy Capps Benfield, 86, of Wilkesboro, NC (formerly of Statesville), passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 in Statesville.

Mrs. Benfield was born June 30, 1935 in Asheville, NC, the daughter of the late Marriot Rickman Capps and Selma Harrison Capps.  She was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School and was married to the late Gordon Cecil Benfield, who passed away in 2006.  She was a homemaker and a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church.

Mrs. Benfield is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Olson of Cary, NC, Karon Eller of Wilkesboro, NC and Lisa Benfield of Mooresville, NC.  She is further survived by her grandsons, Tyler Olson (Jessie), and Shay Noone, her granddaughters, Cori Garwood and Casey Garwood, a great granddaughter, Charlotte Olson, along with 3 sisters, Sarah Morrow, Rixie Cline and Nina Houston (Fred), all of Statesville.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara C. Kisselburg.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 3:30 pm, Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesville, with Rev. Tad Craig officiating.  The family will speak with friends following the services.
