Maxie G. Allen

Jun 26, 1935 — Aug 30, 2026

Statesville

Maxie G. Allen, 91, of Statesville, NC, passed away at home on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

She is survived by her loyal and devoted husband of 60 years, James M. Allen; her daughter, Debbie Martin (Darrell Martin); her son, Rick Webster; and her youngest daughter, Jamie Allen (Alison Holmes). She was a proud Nana to two grandsons, and three great-grandchildren. And last, but certainly not least, she leaves behind her devoted canine companion, Precious Allen, who held a very special place in her heart.

Maxie Allen was charitable in so many ways. She and James were foster parents for over 10 years, opening their hearts and their home to more than 100 children. She shared with the foster children, as well as her own, what it meant to have a “giving heart,” including them as she volunteered with various organizations throughout Statesville and the surrounding communities. In recent years, when she was no longer able to go out and serve others with her own hands, her commitment to helping never wavered. She continued to give, through donations to local and national organizations, always believing in the importance of supporting others.

Maxie Allen loved being a Mom and was incredibly proud of her three children. She was always there to listen, comfort, encourage, and offer gentle—or sometimes stern—advice when needed. She was stubbornly independent until her last breath and ran a clean, organized household—a trait that, much to her disappointment, none of her children seemed to inherit.

Maxie loved being a Wife and was incredibly proud to have recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with James on June 18th. She was also profoundly proud of the life she and James built together from humble beginnings. They had many adventures together, traveling both locally and internationally. From the 1970s, traveling full-time in an old airstream, toddler in tow, to more recent years, traveling in their “crown jewel”—a fifth-wheel camper that became their home for months at a time, taking them from the mountains of North Carolina to the beaches of Florida.

She will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones, and especially by her shadow, Precious.

A memorial service will be held at Troutman Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept 3rd with visitation starting at 1pm followed by a short service at 2pm.
