Mary Pauline Loftin Whitcomb

July 26, 1933 - July 16, 2016 Mrs. Mary Pauline Loftin Whitcomb, 82, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Gordon Hospice House. She was born July 26, 1933 in Iredell County to the late Vannie Mae and Stokes Loftin. Mrs. Whitcomb was an avid painter who dearly loved animals especially her pets, Cricket, Kid and Princess. She was a retiree of Duke Power where she worked in their Environmental lab for most of her career. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tyanne Whitcomb Smith (Russell) and Becky Whitcomb Thomas (Donnie), all of Troutman; son, Richard Ivan Whitcomb (Lura) of Cary; seven grandchildren, Courtney Thomas, Angela Noble (Keith), Ben Smith (Bonnie), Shelley Smith, Cason Whitcomb, Isaac Whitcomb and Lee Thomas (Melina); and three great grandchildren, Zack, Aly and Blake Noble. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Troutman Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in Iredell Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Michael Carr officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in her memory to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28625. The family would like to send a special "thank you" to the personnel of The Gardens of Statesville and Gordon Hospice House for the loving care and attention they gave to Mrs. Whitcomb.
