Mary Tuttle (Slate) Smith

Mary Tuttle Slate Smith, 85, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Heritage Place in Conover, NC.

Mary was born February 8, 1937, in the town of Wagram, in Scotland County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Herman Frances Slate and Anna Tuttle Slate.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mrs. Frances Slate Oldham, Mrs. Sara Slate Stancil, and Mrs. Myrtle Slate Teal, and her brother, Mr. Herman F. Slate, Jr.

Those left to cherish Mary’s memory include family: David Smith and wife, Tamalynne, Kevin Smith and wife, Lisa, grandson, Joshua David Smith, and wife, Jamie, and great-granddaughter, Ellie May.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary Smith will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 4, 2022, at Ostwalt Baptist Church.  The family will greet friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 pm.  Entombment will follow the funeral at Iredell Memorial Gardens.  Online condolences may be made to the Smith family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com
