Mary C. Starrette

Dec. 23, 1932 - July 21, 2015 Mrs. Mary C. Starrette, 82, of Troutman, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. She was born in Iredell County to the late Lydia D. and Fred Grant Compton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James Robert Starrette, and sister, Estalene Ervin. She is survived by her son, James Robert Starrette, III of Troutman; daughters, Karen Starrette of Mooresville and Donna S. Somers of Beaufort; and two grandchildren, Jon-Paul and Grayson Query. Mrs. Starrette loved music and enjoyed playing the piano for the church. She also served as church secretary for 10 years before the illness of her husband. A graveside service for Mrs. Starrette will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Iredell Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Troutman First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nyomi King officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Troutman Funeral Home to assist with the cost of the funeral.
