Mary Nunnery

Mary Kirby Nunnery, 82, of Statesville, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at Carolina Continued Care of Pineville. Mary was born August 31, 1942, in Greenbrier County, WV and was the daughter of the late John and Wanda McCraw Kirby.

She was a graduate of Bluefield Business College and was married to the late S. Arnold Nunnery. Together they raised two children. Mary enjoyed quilting and was a master southern cook who was dearly loved by her family.

She is survived by two children, S. Arnold “Arnie” Nunnery, Jr., and Mary Ava Nunnery; two grandchildren, Justin Wheeler and A.J. Nunnery; two sisters, Ginny Kirby Grimm and Nancy Thompson; brother-in-law, Ronald Nunnery and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 6th at 11:00am at First Baptist Church with Dr. Nelson Grenade officiating. The family will visit with friends in Adams Hall one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
