Mary Edna Weisner Lewis, 99, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at her home.
Mary was born on October 27, 1925, to the late Espy Vance Weisner and Etta Myers Weisner. She retired after 38 years from her family business, Myers Oil Company. She was also a homemaker and spent many years caring for her family and friends. She was a founding member of Monticello United Methodist Church and a MYF director for youth. She was a member of Eastern Star and the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). She, along with her sister, was well known for feeding and serving the church and neighborhood.
She married Roman Vinon Plyler, who preceded her in death, as well as her stepson, Everett L. “Bill” Plyler (Jan). She is survived by her step grandchildren, Laura Anderson, Lance Plyler and Ann Plyler, many step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren.
She married Nelson Alexander Lewis, who also preceded her in death, as well as her stepson Charles Lewis.
Also preceding her in death were her two sisters, Arlene and Francis, brother, Frank, and a nephew, Thomas Vance. She is survived by her nephew, Billy Mike Baldwin.
Mary was blessed to have caregivers that were more like family. The family would like to thank and express their deepest appreciation to all the Hospice staff and those who cared for her at home, Paulette Klein, Mary West, Kari Johnson, Pat Scott and Jaki Sharpe.
She will lie in state from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Troutman Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Teresa Stewart-Stafford officiating.
