Mrs. Mary Danyels Bass, 83, of Statesville, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 10, 2015. She died unexpectedly at Iredell Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 9, 1931 in Iredell County to the late Kathleen E. and Paris W. Danyels.
She was married to the late Cleytus R. Bass and for many years, they owned and operated their own business in Troutman. In later life, she worked for the Iredell County School system where she retired due to her husband’s health.
Mary loved life and particularly enjoyed traveling. She loved her family and their times together, collected angels and loved her church where she got great pleasure from singing.
She is survived by her son, the Rev. Paris Franklin (Lori) Bass of Selma; daughters, Sue Kathleen (Tony) Stout of Hiddenite and Georgianna T. Hollar of Statesville; sisters, Shirley (Jack) Tucker and Martha (Doyle) Duncan of Statesville; brother, James (Nellie) Danyels of Olin; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Mary was also loved by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Eufola Baptist Church. Services celebrating her life will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dave Abberger and Rev. Chase White officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Troutman.
