Martha M. Money

Oct. 7, 1928 - Sept. 11, 2014 Mrs. Martha M. Money, 85, of Troutman, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014. She was born in Sarasota County, FL on October 7, 1928 to the late Robert Guy and Edre Norton Matheson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Allen Money. She is survived by her daughter, Jane M. Kelly (Jeff); two grandchildren, Russell Guy and Emily Beth Kelly; and one great grandson, Jackson S. Reid. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind three sisters, her twin Mary Hildebrand of Statesville and Billie Jo Powell and Rachel Plyler, both of Troutman. Mrs. Money was a graduate of Troutman High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte. She spent her entire working career as a secretary, starting her career in Charlotte, then at Kewaunee Technical and finally retired from Adams & Pegram, Engineers/Architects. She was a member of the Statesville Business & Professional Women’s Club for years and later a member of Statesville Career Women. She always held the position of secretary due to her excellent short hand skills. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Troutman where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. Her daughter Jane would especially like to thank Billie Jo Powell and Linda Shade for the kindness and friendship they gave to her mother. Our family would also like to thank the ladies in Memory Care at Emeritus at Churchill. Thanks must also go the Kim Lumpkin, who cared for Martha while she was able to stay in her home. We are also very grateful for the wonderful doctors and nurses on N Wing, second floor at Iredell Memorial Hospital. A very special thank you goes out to Lois (Superman), the wonderful nurse who never got upset with our family for asking so many questions. And thank you, Kim, with Hospice. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15 at Troutman First United Methodist Church. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Ronnie Broome, Jeff Hall, Steve Tsitouris, Jim Williams, Brent Frye and Don Kelly. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to be made to Troutman First United Methodist Church Playground Fund, 204 Mills Avenue, Troutman, NC 28166.
