Martha Kay (Ervin) Benge

Martha Kay Ervin Benge, 74, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at her home.

Martha was born on May 24, 1949, in Catawba County and was the daughter of the late Walter Ervin and Rachel Miller Ervin. She was a graduate of Bunker Hill High School and attended Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church. Martha owned her own beauty shop in Statesville, Martha’s Beauty Shop, for over fifty years.  She loved gardening in her spare time and took great pride in her flowers.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Benge, who passed in 2002, and a sister, Brenda Caldwell.

Those left to cherish Martha’s memory include her sons, Eric Dagenhart (Meshelle), Keith Benge (Samantha Lundy), grandchildren, Justin Wiles, Taylor Gallamore (Seth), Evan Dagenhart and Branson Lundy and great grandchildren, Presley, Brinley and Bowen Gallamore. Also surviving are her sister, Gail Fox, brother, Steve Miller and brother-in-law, Dennis Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, August 6, at Troutman Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Pastor Michael Daniels will be officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
