Margaret “Peggy” Alice Shields Braden Tune, 92, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Mitchell-Mack Hospice House.
Peggy was born on January 22, 1933, to the late Cornelius Patrick Shields and Alice Marie Ratchford Shields in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Peggy married C. Edward Braden, creator of MasterCharge, in 1952. They were married for 38 years until his passing in 1990. In 2002, she married retired Col. Howard Tune, Special Forces, and lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida until his passing in 2015.
Peggy’s versatility shone through as she navigated a long, successful professional career. In her younger years, she worked as a freelance fashion and photograph model. She dedicated ten years to teaching as an elementary educator and art instructor.
She then went onto a two-decade career in real estate, brokerage and sales management where amongst numerous awards for high sales, she also was the driving force for nine long years to change the law across the United States on how real estate commissions were paid.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Stephen Braden (Nancy) and Carroll Braden, Jr. (Diane); grandchildren, Kelley Sicas (Miles), Casey Braden, Laura Brown (Nick), Curt Braden (Sarah), and James Hunter Braden; and great-grandson, Von Edward Braden.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, Peggy was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Scott Braden.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
