Margaret "Peggy" Ann Walker Dagenhart

Margaret “Peggy” Ann Walker Dagenhart, 92, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at her home.

Peggy was born on January 19, 1934. Her parents were the late Ida Bell Mills Walker and Harry Leo Walker. She was also preceded in death by her only sibling, Harry Leo “Sonny” Walker, Jr.

Peggy was employed as a store clerk at Dingler’s Drug Store and as a cosmetologist for Spainhours Downtown Statesville, which enabled her to meet Connie Francis in New York during a store conference. She also worked at Lester’s and Uniform Fashions in downtown Statesville as a store clerk, giving her the fine sense of fashion that remained with her.

The Dagenhart family became members of Wesley Memorial during the 1960’s. Peggy was active in all aspects of Wesley, being treasurer of Mary Martha Circle for several years and serving on Trustees. She remained active, although unable to attend regularly, calling on members to remind them of Wesley Adult Fellowship luncheons.

Left to cherish Peggy’s memory are her three daughters, Diane Wilcox (Kyle), Denise Sherrill (Danny Stafford) and Michelle Dagenhart; four grandchildren, Wendy Overcash (Robbie), Stephanie Meyer (Curtis), Phillip Sherrill (Jodie) and Cristi Arreola (Enrique); eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren,

The family will visit with friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday, July 6 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at noon and a private burial will be held at Iredell Memorial Park.
