Luis G. Cortez

Luis G. Cortez, 77, of Troutman, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Uyni, Bolivia, South America on June 2, 1935 to the late Renee Garrido-Cortez and Margarite Gonzatti Cortez. He was self-employed and could do almost anything any one wanted him to do. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Rodriguez-Campos Cortez, of the home; four daughters, Margaritte Walkup of Troutman, Diana Seda and Isabel Echevarria, both of Jacksonville, FL, and Estrella Cortes of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Graciela Zenteno, of New York. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joaquin Cortez. The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Louis Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
