Lucy Troutman Rochelle, 78, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015.
She was born in Iredell County to the late Annie Evans and John Morrison Troutman.
She graduated from Barium Springs High School in 1955 and from Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1958. She began her career in the ER at Presbyterian Hospital and helped open the first outpatient surgery clinic there. Mrs. Rochelle later worked for the City of Charlotte as an occupational health nurse and for many years at BellSouth in the same capacity. While working at BellSouth, she also enjoyed presenting wellness seminars until she retired in 1991.
She was married to Dennis E. Rochelle, Jr. for 55 years. She loved her family and friends, spent her free time traveling and hiking with her beloved husband, and loved reading. She was a very people oriented person and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Because of her career in nursing, she was always very health conscious and enjoyed exercising and taking long walks.
In addition to her husband Dennis, she is survived by her son, Dennis E. (Mary Jo) Rochelle, III. of Durham; daughter, Gina Rochelle (Michael Charles) Walker of Pawleys Island, SC; four grandchildren, Austin Moore and Caroline Cameron Rochelle, Rebecca Rochelle and Catherine Elizabeth Walker; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice Troutman Gentry; brothers, John (Jay), Joe and Henry Troutman.
The family will receive friends from 1 - 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dieter W. Punt officiating. Interment will be in Troutman Family Cemetery.

The family will forever be grateful to her special caregivers Lisa Freeze and Vickie Nance for their dedication, love and care. In addition, they wish to thank all of the staff at The Laurels at Highland Creek for their professional help, care, attention, and guidance as well as Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
