Lois Godfrey Ostwalt

Lois Godfrey Ostwalt, 90, of Troutman, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Autumn Care of Statesville. She was born in Iredell County on June 2, 1922 to the late Marsh Lee and Carrie Hartness Godfrey. After graduating from Scotts High School, she worked in textiles and in a small grocery store in Troutman. She was also employed by the Statesville Auto Auction for a number of years before retiring. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved her church and was proud to have many years of perfect attendance. She is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Godfrey Kilpatrick and Mary Ruth Godfrey; one brother, Jim Godfrey; and three grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Alexander Ostwalt; son, Larry Ben Ostwalt; sisters, Edna Godfrey, Zelma Godfrey, and Elizabeth G. McLelland; and brothers, Bill, Frank, and Tom Godfrey. A visitation will be held on Saturday August 4, 2012 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Woodward officiating. Interment will be in the Bethel Church cemetery.
