Lineous Beaman Nance, Jr.

November 8, 1934 — October 25, 2025

Stony Point

Lineous Beaman Nance Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully at his farm in Stony Point, NC on October 25, 2025.

Beaman was born on November 8, 1934, in Cerro Gordo, North Carolina to parents Lineous Beaman Nance Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Nelson Nance. After attending Cerro Gordo High School, he attended NC State University where he studied agriculture and played French horn in the orchestra. He then served as a sergeant in the US Army overseas in Germany. While Beaman spent the first of his career as a NC Cooperative Extension Agent and teacher, he was best known for his insurance business which he founded in 1974 and never retired from. He loved driving all over the Carolinas as a salesman, a career that his family jokingly said never allowed them to have a dinner out in peace without everyone in the restaurant stopping by to say hello.

Anyone that knew Beaman knew his lifelong passion was farming. He spent a large part of his life raising and showing Arabian horses. He spent the latter years of his life cattle farming and enjoying the farm he shared with his wife, Cully. He never met any animal that did not love him. He would want to be remembered for his dedication to agriculture and love of all creatures.

Beaman is survived by his wife, Cully Jenkins Nance of Stony Point; children Andre Nance and Marlisa VanHout (Michael) of Wilmington, NC and Candice Nance (Brian) of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren Eliza, Isabel, Uli, and Linus; siblings Jack Nance, Thomas Nance, and Phiena Nance Doares and preceded in death by his sister, Anne Nance. He will be deeply missed by countless colleagues, clients, former students, and his beloved pets.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in his name to Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC or the Iredell County 4-H Program through NC Cooperative Extension.

Receiving friends will be Saturday, November 1st at New Sterling ARP Church in Stony Point, NC at 11 am. His graveside service will immediately follow at the church cemetery, located beside the church, at noon. Beaman loved people and would have wanted all who knew him to attend.
