Linda Gertrude Debate

Linda Gertrude DeBate (Nielsen), 82 passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025.  Loving wife of Richard and mother of Karl DeBate (Rita), and Donna DeBate Cone (Brad) and cherished granddaughters Katie and Kylee Cone.  Linda was born in Brooklyn NY to Christian and Elisabeth (Seidel) Nielsen, where she met and married Richard in 1962.  They spent part of their lives in Maryland, then moved to Charlotte NC to be near their children.

She is predeceased by her brothers John, Christian, Martin and sister Ruth.  Survived by sisters Gail Siess and Debbie Libert and brothers Roy and Gary Nielsen.

Linda was a loving mother and grandmother and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. She was always there when we needed her most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She was a friend to many and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength. Her radiant smile and sense of humor lit up any room she entered.  She truly had a heart of gold. She enjoyed the beach, reading, and gardening. There was not a flower she didn’t love or could make grow beautifully.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at VIA Health Partners Hospice for their dedication kindness and compassion.

There are no formal services planned at this time.
