Lillie (Austin) Shoemaker

Lillie Austin Shoemaker, 92, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.

Ms. Shoemaker was born September 13, 1926 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Ralph Marsh Austin and Roxie Burleson Austin. She was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and was retired from Fiber Industries in Salisbury. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, was very active in her senior groups, was an avid reader and loved to do water exercises at Davis Hospital.

She is survived by three children, Linda S. Parker (Jim) of Statesville, Gene Fred Shoemaker of Statesville, Tim Shoemaker (Barbara) of Statesville; six grandchildren, Ty Gryder, Kris Shoemaker, Emily Gardner, Andrea Ballard, Ryan Shoemaker, Corey Parker; nine great grandchildren, Hallie Ballard, Jenna Ballard, Callie Gardner, Laney and Logan Shoemaker, Garrison Parker, Katherine Gardner, Colt Parker, Emerie Gryder and an expected great grandson in September 2019. She is further survived by a brother, George Austin (Wilma); son-in-law, Larry Gryder; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Shoemaker, Wilma Shumaker; one step-grandson, Tony Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Shoemaker was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Gryder; one daughter-in-law, Marylene Shoemaker; one brother, Ralph Austin, Jr. and four sisters, Marjorie Kyles, Helen Morrison, Jean Brown and Julia Watts.

Graveside services will be held 11:00am Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Ernie Sheldon officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:00-8:00pm at Troutman Funeral Home.
