Leroy Allen Hutchens

April 20, 1923 - Feb. 15, 2011

Mr. Leroy Allen Hutchens, 87, of Troutman, passed away peacefully at Gordon Hospice House, Tuesday, February 15, 2011, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Iredell County on April 20, 1923 to the late Toy Lee and Nina Stevenson Hutchens. He was a member of Troutman Baptist Church. He worked in maintenance for Carolinas Medical Center for seventeen years. Roy served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally H. Moose. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ethel Little Hutchens of Troutman; two sons, Steven (Beverly) Hutchens of Troutman and Dennis (Barbara) Hutchens of Statesville; a brother, Albert (Sylvia) Hutchens of Statesville; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home on Thursday, February 17, 2011. Funeral services celebrating the life of Roy Hutchens will be on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Troutman Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Ingles, the Rev. Dr. Paul Childers and the Rev. J. B. Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Roy’s memory may be made to Troutman Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O.
