Lela Mae Eudy

Lela Mae Herrin Eudy, 80, of Statesville, a devoted Christian, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Stanley County on October 18, 1930 to the late Ellis Adam and Flora Mae Mauney Herrin and was married to the late Luther Caldwell Eudy. She lived in Iredell County for 77 years, and worked as a seamstress for Stimpson Hosiery Mills and Beauty Maid Mills. She was a member of Front Street Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She was also a loving mother and grandmother and was a wonderful caregiver to many others. Left to honor her legacy are two sons, Michael C. Eudy (Linda) of Cleveland and Robert E. Eudy (Pam) of Statesville; three daughters, Anita L. Eudy and Cathy Eudy, both of Harrisburg and Lisa E. Pierce (Terry) of Brevard; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Herrin of Winston Salem; and three half sisters, Nancy Cook (Wendell) and Susan LeVan (Rodney), both of Statesville and Mary Ella Matheson (Forrest) of Taylorsville. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Eudy was preceded in death by a brother, James Herrin. A service to celebrate Mrs. Eudy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Front Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Stutts officiating. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Park in Statesville. The family will receive friends in Holland Chapel of Front Street Baptist Church on Monday, December 20, 2010 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Front Street Baptist Church, Young at Heart Fund, 1431 West Front Street, Statesville, N.
