Landon Walker Wood, 13, of Statesville, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Brenner Children’s Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born on November 19, 1997 in Statesville to his loving parents, Jodenna and Johnny Wood. Landon was a loving son and a wonderful brother. He loved his family, going to school, playing football and basketball and hanging out with his friends. He couldn’t wait to get back to school and his sports. He fought a hard battle and never gave up. He truly appreciated all the love and support everyone gave him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Taylor; maternal grandparents, Rosa Ricker of Claremont and Jimmie Trent and step-grandmother Barbara Trent of Statesville; paternal grandparent, Vernon Wood; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Imogene Wood. Funeral services celebrating Landon’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Troutman Middle School with the Revs. Joel Settle and Mark McClamrock officiating. Reception of family and friends will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Landon’s name be made to Troutman Middle School, 305 Rumple St., Troutman, NC 28166 or Brenner Children’s Hospital, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Blvd., Winston Salem, NC 27157. To know Landon was to love him and to be a part of his life was a privilege and an honor.
