Nuel Kester Martin, 100, of Stony Point passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County after a short illness.
Kester was born on October 7, 1924, in Alexander County, to the late Newton Ray Martin and Mary Ola Warren Martin. He was an Army combat veteran of WWII, having served in the European Theater. After the war he served as Register of Deeds in Alexander County, worked for Imperial Tobacco Group as a tobacco buyer, and spent years pursuing his love of farming and raising black angus beef cattle. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris Hines Martin, four sisters and one brother.
Those left to cherish his memories are his son Warren Lynn Martin of Atlanta, Ga; his daughter Janet Grace Martin of Durham; his grandsons Daniel Schopler and Justin Schopler both of Durham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at New Salem Presbyterian Church in Stony Point. Rev. Elizabeth Troyer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
