Kathy Sutherland

May 18, 1952 - July 5, 2018 Kathy Fay Janney Sutherland, 66, of Troutman, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Davy, West Virginia on May 18, 1952 to the late Dave Janney and Mae Sizemore Janney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Kathy spent her career as a CNA at the Iredell County Council on Aging. She was known for her delicious cooking and creative abilities. She loved doing arts and crafts, as well as sewing. She was also of the Baptist faith. Most of all, she will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who always made sure everyone was well taken care of. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Blaine Virl Sutherland Sr.; sons, Blaine Sutherland Jr. and James Sutherland; daughter, Crystal (James) Doster; five sisters; two brothers; grandchildren, Amanda Sutherland, Joseph (Jessica) Sutherland, and great-grandchildren, Kinzley Gore and Jaycee Sutherland. The family will receive friends at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral will begin in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Harrison officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at the New Perth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy’s memory may be made to Iredell County Council on Aging, 344 E. Front Street, Statesville, NC 28677 and/or to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Troutman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Kathy Sutherland.
