Norman T. Hoover, Jr., known as "Junior" to many, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was a resident of Troutman.
He was born March of 1952 in Iredell County to the late Norman T. Hoover, Sr. and Virginia Bennett.
Junior served the country he loved honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Once he returned home, he continued his studies at Mitchell Community College. In 1979, he began his career with the Iredell County Sheriff's Department where he served for over 30 years until his retirement as Sergeant.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia; two brothers, Mike (Rhonda) and Roger (Shirley); one sister, Patty (Danny); children, Amanda (Jamie) and JT (Heather); and step-children, Nici (Jeff), Chris (Jennifer) and Peggy (Andrew). He was lovingly known as "Pop" to his eight grandchildren, DeAnna, Kristina, Sara, Breanna, Ashley, Nathan, William, and Maddie Claire and currently has another grandchild on the way.
In addition to his father, Norman, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne, and his late wife, Pam.
Due to inclement weather, the visitation has been rescheduled. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 24th at Troutman Funeral Home.
There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
