June Carolyn Abernathy

June Carolyn Abernathy, 84, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House.

June was born on October 12, 1941, to the late Donald Harlee Abernathy and Rachel Cash Abernathy. She attended Statesville City Schools and graduated from Statesville High School in 1961. She later earned an associate degree in accounting from Mitchell Community College.

While attending school, June worked for Statesville Answering Service before beginning her career with Beaunit as a cost accountant. When the company was acquired by Burlington Industries, she continued her work there as a cost analyst until the company closed and she retired.

June was a faithful member of Christ Blvd. United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish June’s memory are her brother, Bobby Ray Abernathy and sister, Margaret Abernathy Josey, both of Statesville. She is also survived by her nephews, John Allen Josey and wife, Anna of Lenoir, and Daniel Ray Abernathy of Statesville; niece, Tanya Marie Abernathy of Statesville; along with several great nieces and nephews.

There are no services planned for June at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville NC 28625.
