Jr. Earl "Butch" Knox

Mar. 21, 1948 - Jan. 13, 2015 Mr. Earl "Butch" McLelland Knox Jr., 66, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Butch was born on March 21, 1948 to Gaye M. Knox Turman and the late Earl M. Knox. He was a graduate of Troutman High School and Appalachian State University and was an accountant for Pneu Mech Systems in Statesville. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Megan Austin Knox, and his sister, Earlene Lawing. In addition to his mother, Butch leaves behind his loving wife, Karen Murdock Knox; son, Cory Brandon Knox and his wife, Clair, of Troutman; two grandsons, Beaux Wallace and Wyatt Austin Knox, both of Troutman; three sisters, Sharon (Bill) Kistler of Mooresville, Alice (Jerry) Price of Fort Mill, S.C. and Kathy (Chris) Harris of Maiden; his brother, Jay (Masami) Knox of Urbandale, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Prissy Nicholson; his brother-in-law, Gayle (Georgia) Murdock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Butch was a loving husband, father, son and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially cherished times with his grandsons, Beaux and Wyatt. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Georgianne Hartline officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Iredell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Megan Austin Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund, 521 East Monbo Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
