Joyce Elaine Reavis Walker

Joyce Elaine Reavis Walker, 76, of Statesville, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, September 27, 2025, unexpectedly after a medical procedure. She was born on March 16, 1949, in Iredell County to the late Hal Monroe Reavis, Sr. & Mary Cascaddon Reavis.

On April 3, 1999, she married the love of her life, Joe Roy Walker. They were married for 13 precious years when Joe passed away on September 5, 2012.

Joyce graduated from Statesville Senior High in 1967. She worked and retired at Kewaunee Scientific Corporation for more than 30+ years. She also was a joyous volunteer after her retirement at Davis Hospital for over 10 years where she met many friends.

Joyce had strong faith in God, and her Church Family were very important to her. She was a member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in Statesville where she served as the Secretary for many years. She was also a former member of East Side Baptist Church in Statesville where she raised her daughter.

Joyce was a loving Mother & Mamaw with a heart of gold and a sweet smile that would light up any room. Anyone that knew Joyce also knew what a huge Carolina Tarheel fan she was. She enjoyed taking trips with her Church Family and going on vacation to the beach with her very Dear Friends. She also was a woman of fashion and anytime you saw her, she was matching in a beautiful color from head-to-toe.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Anderson Hewitt (Charlie), Statesville; and her Granddaughter, Morgan Frazier, Statesville; two Sisters, Rickie Miller (Doyte), and Jewell Jordan; Stepson, Randy Walker (Heather); Step-Granddaughter, Savannah Walker; Step-Grandson, Brayden Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Joyce was preceded in death by a brother, Hal “Buster” Reavis, Jr.; and her sister/ best friend, Janice Reavis Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1 at 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will be held immediately after the visitation at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Wooten officiating. Serving as Pallbearers are Scottie Miller, Kirk Miller, Randy Mitchell, David Mitchell, Ricky Sparks, and Jerry Moore. Following the service, Burial will be held at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 147 Isaac Road (off Hwy 115N/Wilkesboro Hwy), Statesville, NC.
