Joyce Benfield Overcash

May 19, 1939 - July 9, 2014 Joyce Benfield Overcash, 75, of Troutman, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born May 19, 1939, the daughter of the late Bessie and Robert Benfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Kenneth Overcash. After graduating from Troutman High School in 1957, she attended Mitchell Community College and worked as a systems analyst for Kewaunee for a number of years. She was a faithful member of Troutman Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, worked with youth activities and sang in the choir. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Robin Overcash (Gene Jr.) Holleman and Michele Overcash (Don) Sparks; son, Kenneth (Kenny) Overcash; brother, William Benfield; brother-in-law, Lee (Sandra) Overcash; sister-in-law, Dean (J.C.) Bruce; eight grandchildren, Shanna Holleman Stutts, Genie Holleman Souza, Alice Austin Holleman, Aaron Gray Sparks, Walter Gene Holleman, III, Kaitlyn Joy Sparks, Patrick (Erin) Hutchens, and Travis Hutchens; and three great grandchildren, Cavin and Lincoln Stutts and Joseph Souza. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Troutman Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Kramm and Allan White officiating. Interment will follow the service in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Troutman. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service and from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. after the service in the church fellowship hall.
