Josephine Binkley Gregory

Josephine Barnard Binkley Gregory, 79, of Harmony, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Davis Regional Medical Center. She was born in Iredell County on May 22, 1932, the daughter of the late William Lee and Hannah Joyner Barnard. She graduated from Harmony High School and was married to her husband of 42 years, the late Claude Dwight Binkley, and then to the late Vance Gregory. She worked as an artist with A & H Stained Glass Company and as a rural mail carrier, both in Harmony. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah B. Orren and husband, Joe, of Christiansburg, VA. and Tammy B. Burchette and husband, Mike, of Harmony; a grandson, Jamey Phipps and wife, Dawn; a granddaughter, Jansen Vick; two great grandchildren, Justin Phipps and Landon Vick; a brother-in-law, Reuben Johnson, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Polly Coombs; a special niece and nephew, Lisa Medford and Mike Johnson; and several special cousins. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved sister, Willie "Jip" Johnson. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 10 at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Harmony. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Bobby Henderson and the Rev. Mike Burchette officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Houstonville Rd, Harmony, NC 28634.
