Johnsie Bass Watt, 86, of Statesville, NC, peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2019 at 2:45 pm at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born June 8, 1933 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Manley Wilson Bass and Oma Lee Bass. A graduate from Cool Springs School, she married Clay Wooten Watt July 7, 1956 and was married 46 years until his death April 19, 2002. Together they had one daughter, Terry Watt Jenkins.
Johnsie babysat many children throughout the years and also worked in the cafeteria at Celeste Henkel Elementary School where she later retired from. She was a longtime active member at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She loved the lord, her family, flowers and gardening. She was kind, caring, humble, genuine, loving and so much more.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Wooten Watt, her 4 sisters, Marcelle Stevenson, Audrey Pope, Edith Whitlock and Nellie Haithcox. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Watt Jenkins; granddaughter, Brittany Wingler Bell and husband, Derrick Bell, one brother, Manley Wilson Bass, Jr. and wife, Carolyn Bass.
Visitation will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Friday, June 28, 2019 at 10am directly followed by service in the sanctuary at 11 am and graveside burial.
Memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House.
