Johnny Charles Riddle, 76, of Dunwoody Road, Troutman died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville.

He was born on October 23, 1934 in Troutman to the late Wiley and Ocy Riddle. On June 9, 1956, he married Naomi Arthurs, who survives. Mr. Riddle attended Iredell County schools and retired from Templon Spinning Mills in Mooresville. He enjoyed raising and trading cattle and working around his farm. He loved his horses and cared for them until his health failed earlier this year. "Paw" loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. The highlight of his week was "Riddle Night", which was a family tradition for many years. He is survived by his wife, Naomi; a son, John Michael Riddle and wife Kathy of Mooresville; four grandchildren, Karmen and Cassidy Riddle of Mooresville and Josh and Madison Riddle of Cleveland; a sister, Maggie Reid of Concord; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Riddle-Brown and husband Mike of Cleveland; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Smith and Bill Riddle; five sisters, Eula Gilley, Ruth Mills, Mary Lee Clodfelter, Dot Harris and Lucille Byers; and a son, Jeff Riddle who died in 2001. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Troutman Funeral Home on Friday, December 10 from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Troutman with the Rev. David Reep and the Rev. James R. Speece officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Riddle, Billy Reid, Alan Benson, Chris Arthurs, Scott Ward and Mike Brown. The family will assemble at the home. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 579 Weathers Creek Road, Troutman, NC 28166.
