Johnnie Sharpe

Johnnie Sharpe, 82, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Maple Leaf Health Care.

Johnnie was born in Iredell County on March 19, 1942, to the late Rufus Franklin Sharpe and Lillie Summers Sharpe. He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church and was retired from Bell’s Construction.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Louise Phillips Sharpe; daughter, Wanda Roten; brothers, Robert Franklin Sharpe, Jim Sharpe and Joseph “Joe” Sharpe; sisters, Norma Shoemaker, Mary Jane Elizabeth Shoemaker, and Mae Walker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son-in-law, David Roten of Statesville; grandsons, Christopher Roten (Kellie) of Hamptonville, and Eric Roten (Colette) of Statesville.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27 at 2:00 pm at Union Chapel Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Robin Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
