John "Jl" Loma Johnson

John Loma (JL) Johnson, Jr., 89 of Statesville passed away Monday, December 5, 2022.

Mr. Johnson was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina on August 14, 1933, the son of the late John Loma Johnson, Sr., and Nora Blevins Johnson.  JL honorably served his country with the US Army before attending Appalachian State University.  He was a retired estimator and project manager with Barger Construction Company in Mooresville, NC.  He enjoyed scuba diving, snow skiing, salt and freshwater fishing, white water canoeing and yard work.  He loved Carolina basketball and Carolina Panthers football.  He also enjoyed helping out friends and family.  He loved to talk to people and never met a stranger.

Those left to cherish JL’s memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Anne Carlton Johnson, two sons, Stephen Johnson and wife Julia, and Robert Johnson and wife Karen; and one grandchild, Samuel Johnson.

The family will visit with friends on Friday evening, December 9, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home.  Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, NC.  Online condolences may be made to the Johnson family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com
