John Staton Fox, Jr.

March 12, 1963 — September 1, 2025

Statesville

God. Family. Highway Patrol.

That’s the way he lived his life. Those were the things that gave him joy and purpose.

John Staton Fox, Jr., 62, went home to be with his Savior on September 1, 2025. He was born on March 12, 1963, in Asheville, NC to Helen Warren Fox and John Staton Fox, both who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brother Roy Warren Fox.

Staton graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School and UNC Asheville.

He attended and graduated from the Eighty-Fourth Basic NC Highway Patrol School in Raleigh in 1989. Being a State Trooper was more than a job to him; it was who he was. He took pride in wearing the grey uniform and driving the black and silver while protecting and serving his state and community. In 2013 he was promoted to Sergeant where he served in both Wilkes County and later Iredell County, but being a road Trooper was truly his passion and life’s calling. Trooper J.S. Fox personified the word, “Trooper.”

In 2000 he married Traci Martin Fox (the Ba) who survives. He is also survived by daughter Jordyn Alexander Fox (Bargs Pie), the light of his heart, and his faithful companion Cookie (Peebs).

Guided by the discipleship of Lt. Mike Valentine, he became a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he was baptized and accepted his Lord and Savior. Staton enjoyed serving the Food for Days ministry as he believed, in his words, the Lord expected him to be a good steward of the blessings he was given.

The family will receive friends at Fairview Baptist Church on Thursday, September 4 from 5:00 to 7:00pm. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 5 at 11:00 am in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend heartfelt love and thanks to his sister in Christ, Typhany, his godsons Tanner and Titus and his special silent earthly angel Valorie White (Vallene).
