John Lee DeBusk

John Lee DeBusk, age 83, of Statesville, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Born in Shelby County, Indiana on August 16, 1942, he was the husband of Gladys Young DeBusk and the son of the late Burchard William and Reba Nell Naylor DeBusk.

He worked as a pipefitter and was a member of Steamfitters Local Union # 295. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He enjoyed surf fishing, working around the house, and he dearly loved his family.

John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys DeBusk; one daughter, Renee Hall (Charles) Calkins; one son, Chad Steven (Ashley Lairson) DeBusk, and his grandchildren, Jennifer (Anthony) Wright, Brandi (Wayne) Mosley, Kristen (Dominic) Dancy, Amanda Hope Hall, Summer DeBusk, Emily (Emerson) Saint Louis, Tyler DeBusk, Dylan DeBusk, and Anthony Wayne Pippin II. Eighteen great grandchildren also survive along with one brother, Steven Burchard (Nancy) DeBusk; two sisters, Marcia Cook and Reba Katherine DeBusk; two sisters-in-law, Joan Orders and Tannya Smith; a niece, Joan Yvonne (Stuart) Knighton and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kellie Leigh DeBusk Wright; and one brother, William David DeBusk.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00 am at Iredell Memorial Gardens. Rev. Beau Mills will officiate.
