John William Campbell

January 17, 1927 - May 22, 2013 John William Campbell, 86, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Iredell County on January 17, 1927 to the late John and Ollie Campbell. He was retired from the Shipping Department of JCPenney’s Distribution Center. He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Navy. Mr. Campbell was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Stewart (Jerry) and Nancy Stine (David), both of Statesville. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Amanda Stewart, Melissa Stewart, Jeremy Stewart and Olivia Stine, as well as four great-grandchildren, Chance Wood, Chase Wood, Colt Wood, and Jeremiah Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Brotherton Campbell, as well as his son, Steven William Campbell, and his brother, James Campbell. A visitation to honor Mr. Campbell’s life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 2 - 3:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 3:30 p.m following the visitation with the Rev. James Morgan and the Rev. Terry Fox officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
