Joanne K. Moose

Joanne K. Moose, age 78, of Statesville, went to her heavenly home on December 5, 2023. She was born December 9, 1944, to Floyd Lee and Frances Emma Sherrill Kelly.

She was a loving, kindhearted, and trusted teacher, sister, and friend. She loved people and animals, especially her cat and called her Baby. She loved both her houseplants and outdoor plants. She truly had a green thumb. Along with her husband, Gene C. Moose, she loved growing a vegetable garden every year and canning and freezing their harvest. She was truly beautiful inside and out. Her loving kindness for her family will always be cherished and she will be forever loved and missed.

Joanne worked at Beauty Maid, BellSouth, Intercraft, and Belk. She enjoyed working with people. She also was a caretaker of children and also of her mother, Frances Emma Sherrill Kelly and grandmother, Vee Mary Moose.

Joanne is survived by one daughter, Gina Anne Moose (fiancé Eric Jolly); one sister, Glenda K. Smith; one brother, Charles Kelly; as well as her nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Joanne’s honor to Beulah Baptist Church, 1851 Old Mountain Rd, Statesville, NC 28677.

Joanne K. Moose, age 78, of Statesville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She was the wife of the late Gene Moose and the daughter of the late Floyd Lee and Frances Emma Sherill Kelly.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends one hours prior, 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
