Joann Roberta Williams

Joann Roberta Williams Williams, 85, of Statesville, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville after a period of declining health.

Born March 22, 1940, in Iredell County, Joann was the daughter of the late Gerald Robert Williams and Alice Ost Williams. She lived her life rooted in her Baptist faith and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Joann devoted her career to nursing, serving her community with compassion and dedication. She worked alongside Dr. J. H. Nicholson II and later at Iredell Memorial Hospital, where her gentle care touched the lives of countless patients and families.

An avid lover of animals, Joann found great joy in caring for and feeding the birds around her home — a simple pleasure that reflected her nurturing spirit.

In addition to her parents, Gerald and Alice Williams, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Talmedge Williams.

Joann is survived by her loving sister, Sharon York, her sissy, Odessa Holmes, her goddaughter, Paulette Inscoe, niece, Catherine Williams, and special family friend, Cecil W. Horne, and his family, who will forever treasure her memory. She is also further survived by her four-legged children, Sully, Jackson and Mango, and friends, Danny and Cathy Lambert, Jeremy and Courtney Ledford, Lisa Connelly, Samantha and Dewayne Smith, Karen Barnes, Kim Hummel and Jesse and Justin Matlock and family.

Friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate her life and legacy of kindness and service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 21 in the chapel of Troutman Funeral Home. Frank Blankenship will be officiating the service. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Burial will follow on the family farm.
