Jo Anne Ireland

It is with deep love and great sadness that we share the passing of Jo Anne Ireland, 75, of Terrell, NC, on Thursday, November 6, 2025. She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home.

Jo was born on September 3, 1950, in Princess Anne County, VA, to the late Edward Leo and Mabel Aline Yurevich. Jo grew up on Virginia Beach and spent her childhood by the ocean. She enjoyed walking the coastline to collect seashells and driftwood.

Her smile was infectious, and she lit up any room she entered. Jo's greatest joy came from time spent with her family, whom her world revolved around, and whom she cherished with every ounce of her being.

Jo worked for many years in hotel and healthcare management before retiring. Feeling most at home by the water, she spent her later years living on Lake Norman, where she enjoyed fishing off the backyard dock and boating on the pontoon. She also had a deep love for music and dancing. Over the years, she attended countless concerts and festivals, and she was known to dance until her feet ached.

Those left to cherish Jo's memory are her loving and long-term life partner and "husband" of 38 years, Robert Sysol; her brother, Leo Yurevich; and her daughters Shawna Ireland Harrelson, Terri Jo Ireland, and Angelina "Angie" Ireland. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kaytlyn "Kayty" Scull (Jordan), Kamden Collins (fiancé Brianna Hartness), Kendall Hoots (Zach), Aiden Carter, and her great-grandson, Hudson Hoots.

She will also be missed by her beloved kitties, CiCi and Bubba; among countless extended family and friends, especially her lifelong best friends, Annie and Joyce.

Jo's love, generosity, and free spirit will live on in the hearts of family and friends forever.

The family will host a private celebration of life gathering at a later date and sincerely thank you for your condolences.
