Jerry Sipes

Jerry Austin Sipes, 82, of Statesville, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Jerry was born in Iredell County on November 5, 1942, to the late Lester B. Sipes and Mable Hager Sipes. He was a graduate of Troutman High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Fern Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Todd Sipes, and an infant brother, Billy Sipes.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Nancy Bost Sipes; daughter, Penny S. Wike (Scottie) of Harmony; grandson, Andrew S. Wike (Brandee); granddaughter, Sierra W. Bolick (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Lillian Bolick and Audrey Bolick; sister, Joan Cook; brother, Rev. Brian Sipes (June); sister-in-law, Becky Bost; many nieces and nephews; special family friend, Tammy Burchette.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18 at 1:00 pm at Fern Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Jesse Stroud, Rev. Robbie Sipes, and Rev. Conley Matlock. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Andrew Wike, Scottie Wike, Jonathan Bolick, Buck Nooe, Bill Stamey, and Fred Beaver.
